Belts & Tensioners

Don't wait for the snap.

Serpentine belts, timing belts, tensioners and idler pulleys run almost everything in your engine — alternator, water pump, AC, power steering, and your engine's timing itself. A failure can leave you stranded; a broken timing belt can destroy your engine.

  • Serpentine belt replacement
  • Timing belt service on schedule
  • Tensioner & idler pulley inspection
  • Squeal & chirp diagnosis
BELTS & PULLEYS

Our Belts services

Everything we cover — done right, the first time.

Serpentine Belt Replacement

Single drive belt that runs your alternator, AC, power steering and water pump. Replaced before it strands you.

Timing Belt Service

Replacement on the manufacturer's schedule — a snapped timing belt can destroy your engine in seconds.

Tensioner & Pulley Service

Tensioners and idler pulleys wear out before the belt. We replace them together to avoid repeat repairs.

Drive Belt Diagnosis

Cracks, glazing, fraying, missing chunks — we catch belt issues before they fail on the road.

Water Pump Inspection

On timing-belt-driven water pumps, we replace the pump with the belt — labor is the same and it prevents a second tear-down.

Squeal & Chirp Diagnosis

Belt squeal is rarely the belt itself — usually a worn tensioner, pulley or accessory. We find the real cause.

WATCH FOR THESE

Signs your vehicle needs attention

Catch issues early and you save money. Wait too long and small problems become big ones. If you notice any of these — give us a call.

Squealing, chirping or screeching from under the hood
Visible cracks, glazing or missing chunks on belts
Engine running hot or AC stops working
Battery warning light (alternator belt slipping)
Power steering becoming heavy or hard
You're approaching your manufacturer's timing belt interval
You don't know when belts were last serviced

FAQ

Questions about belts

Most manufacturers recommend every 100,000–150,000 km. Some engines use a timing chain instead, which lasts the life of the engine. We'll tell you exactly which one your vehicle has and when it's due.
The serpentine belt is on the outside of the engine and runs accessories. The timing belt is inside the engine and synchronizes the crankshaft and camshaft. A snapped serpentine belt is an inconvenience; a snapped timing belt can destroy an interference engine.
Tensioners typically last as long as the belt they tension — but if they fail first, they'll take the belt out with them. We always inspect tensioners with every belt replacement.
Not for long. A squealing belt is slipping — which means whatever it drives (alternator, AC, water pump) isn't working at full capacity. Get it checked the same week.
